Happy New Year
Brooklands' New Years Day breakfast meet is a good way for petrolheads to bring in the new year. This was a our second year, and there we hundreds of cars, a buzzy, friendly atmosphere, music and good breakfasts. The only thing that spoiled it was the terrible rain that set in. Still, it didn't stop enthusiasts bringing their rare and old machines out to play. From Blower Bentleys to 50's Hot Rods, classic Ferraris and all kinds of classic and cherished motors. Also, this year scrutineering was taking place at the meet for the 2012 London to Cape Town Rally. We didn't take many photographs because of the weather, but these two caught our eye:
The 1968 Porsche 912 of Alastair Caldwell & Hayden Burvill
The 1964 Volvo of Martin Aaldering & Josephina Freriks Aaldering
Good luck to everyone on the rally, and a happy new year to all of our readers. We hope 2012 is a great year for you.

Mark's '65 Ex-Rally 911
We met Mark Hersee at a recent GRRC track day at Goodwood. It was his first time on the Goodwood track in this gorgeous and very purposeful-looking 911. It was built to rally spec by Tuthills, and used in earnest for that purpose in the US. You can see some pictures of it in action at the Prescott Rally here, here and here. Since owning the car, Mark has had Tuthills lower the car and change the gear rations to more suit track use, as well as having the wheels polished and more mechanical track prep. For those interested in these kinds of things, it is a matching numbers car, and Mark is planning to re fit some of the items required to get its FIA HTP papers. It's a beautiful car that sounded and looked fantastic and poised on the track. It was great to meet Mark and mates, all genuine Porsche/car nuts and good people.
Goodwood Revival Sunday #1
We have a huge pile of photos from the Sunday at Goodwood revival, mostly taken either first thing in the morning, or in the evening after the racing had finished. Here is a small selection from the morning, with the damp and condensation laying on the cars and paddock, and cars being prepped for the days racing.
