There are cars, and there are show cars. And then there are those few that take it to the next level. This is one of the latter,
Wayne McCarthy's Ruby Red 1963 beetle, built by Ben Lewis of
Evil Ben's and painted by Gavin Jones of
Trailer Queen Restos.
Now, we consider all three to be friends of SuperNinety, so you might think we're being biased when we say that this is probably the best, most perfectly detailed show car we've ever seen. But then again, this car
has just been awarded
Best of Show at the
Volksworld Show, probably the most prestigious award a VW can get in Europe. And prior to that, it took the Meguiars best of show award at the NEC Classic Car Show last November, where it beat the highest level of competition from all marques, including six and seven-figure cars.
Our photos here don't really do it justice, it has to be seen in the flesh to be believed, but if you can get hold of copy, have a look at the feature in Volksworld magazine for some of the insane detail. Congratulations to Wayne, Ben and Gav – well done gents.
